.: RESULTS :.
Kier Beveridge (Team Assasins) vs. Marcus Gifford (Dragon Warrior)

After the fighters touch gloves they circle, sizing each other up. Kier attacks first, coming forward with a flurry of punches with only one or two landing. Gifford moves in and the fighters clinch. Kier shoots for a takedown and works into side mount. Gifford manages to work around Kier and gains full guard. Gifford begins working a guillotine, and gets it locked in. Kier taps.

Winner: Marcus Gifford by Submission due to Guillotine Choke in the 1st Round.

Chris Snow (Boneyard) vs. Henrique Bicalho (Dragon Lair)

The action begins quickly with Henrique immediately throwing a leg kick to begin the round. Chris comes forward with a punch that misses and the fighters clinch. Bicalho lands a few very solid shots and for a moment Chris looks out on his feet. Chris tries for a shot, Henrique sprawls and prevents the takedown. Chris begins to get back to his feet and Henrique jumps to pull guard with Chris standing. Henrique quickly changes his mind and jumps back down to his feet. The fighters clinch again with both working knees to the body. Henrique flurries again, landing a lot of solid straights and hooks. Henrique shoots and gets the takedown into side mount. Henrique gets knee-on-stomach and lands a few solid punches that knock Chris out and the fight is over. All I can say about Henrique is…wow. And the kid turned 18 last week? I expect big, big, BIG things from him in the future.

Winner: Henrique Bilcalho by KO due to Strikes in the 1st Round.

Rob Gagnon (Submission Arsenal) vs. Jesse Rebell (Team True)

Gagnon immediately shoots and gets a quick takedown into side mount. Within seconds he has full mount on Rebell, and begins to punch in a fury. Gagnon goes back to side mount, still throwing down punches. Again, he goes to mount, still trying to put Rebell away with punches. Rebell rolls to his stomach to avoid the flurry. Gagnon looks for a rear naked choke but Rebell rolls over and Gagnon has him side-mounted again. Again, he goes back to mount. Then, fatigue sets in. Rebell sweeps and rolls Gagon and is on top in Gagnon’s guard. Gagnon makes a weak attempt at an armbar and quickly gives up. Rebell lays on Gagnon, not really doing much of anything. Rebell begins to punch but Gagnon scoots out and the fighters are back to their feet. Both fighters look gassed, especially Gagnon. Gagnon comes forward and the fighters clinch. Gagnon goes for a takedown but isn’t able to power through, taking a couple knees to the chest in the process. Gagnon is able to single-leg Rebell but Rebell lands on top in side mount. Gagnon isn’t really defending, and is taking a lot of knees. Gagnon powers up and gets on top of Jesse again in Jesse’s guard. After a lot of nothing, the fighters are brought back to their feet. Gagnon comes forward with a punch and takes Jesse down into his guard. Gagnon works to half mount. Gagnon begins to punch and sneaks his leg over into full mount. Jesse easily rolls him and lands in Gagnon’s guard, as Gagnon is now showing every sign of being completely gassed. The round ends.

Both fighters come out in the second round throwing a punch, neither landing. They clinch and Jesse lands a good knee to the midsection. Rebell gets a takedown but is rolled and Gagnon lands in Rebell’s guard. Gagnon throws punches from the top, while Rebell throws some good punches as well from the bottom. Rebell tries to sweep Gagnon like he’s been doing the whole fight but Gagnon keeps his balance and stays on top. Gagnon works over Rebell’s legs and gets side mount. He throws a few punches, then gets rolled. As soon as his back hit’s the mat, he taps, apparently from exhaustion.

Winner: Jesse Rebell by Submission due to Exhaustion in the 2nd Round.

Mike Mitchell (Team Elite) vs. Roger Brackett (Gracie-Barra)

The fighters come out and Mitchell is met with Roger’s foot in his face from a front kick. Mitchell comes forward with a punch that misses and the fighters clinch, Roger getting the better of it with solid knees to the stomach. Mitchell shows his strength, controlling the clinch and pushing Roger around. Roger lands a couple more knees and Mitchell backs away, the fighters again squaring off. Roger throws another front kick that lands flush in Mike’s face. Mike again moves in and the fighters are back in the clinch. Mike throws a hook that grazes Roger’s head. Roger again works some knees. Roger begins landing very solid uppercuts that break the clinch, following with a good left hook that staggers Mitchell. Roger keeps coming forward with a flurry, every punch landing, and Mitchell is almost out on his feet as the referee steps in to end it.

Winner: Roger Brackett by TKO due to Strikes in the 1st Round.

Aguileno Brandao (BMAC) vs. Stefan Jacobs (BIT)

Stefan immediately shoots. Brandao half-defends with a couple punches then seemingly lets him get the takedown into his guard and begins working a guillotine choke. Stefan pops his head out and throws a couple punches. He can’t really get any through because they’re in the ropes, and they are restarted in the same position in the middle of the ring. Aguileno begins working from rubber guard and starts setting up a triangle choke. He gets the triangle on, Stefan defending. Aguileno throws slap punches to Stefan’s face, trying to rotate his hips to tighten the hold but Stefan does a good job in preventing it. Stefan works out of the triangle and gets to his feet. Aguileno stands up and Stefan again shoots and Aguileno sprawls. He had one arm in for a guillotine. He gives up on the guillotine and sets up an Anaconda choke. He rolls Stefan over for the choke but Stefan is able to roll with it and stays out of trouble. Aguileno again rolls, but this time Stefan can’t keep the momentum. He’s stuck, and is forced to tap.

Winner: Aguileno Brandao by Submission due to Anaconda Choke in the 1st Round.

Enrique Nunez (Silver Dragon) vs. Jonathan Lopes (Dragon Lair)

Enrique lands a right straight and shoots for a takedown. He gets it, and lands in Lopes‘ guard.. Jonathan is trying to sweet Nunez while Enrique lands small punches. Jonathan tries to work for an armbar, but Nunez fends it off and maintains top position in the guard. Jonathan now brings his leg up behind Enrique‘s head to work for a triangle, and locks his legs. He‘s trying to pull on Nunez‘s head but can‘t quite secure the hold. Enrique begins punching and Lopes is forced to give up and Enrique passes to side mount. Lopes gets up quickly to his knees and stands, the fighters clinching. Lopes takes Enrique down and Enrique works for a guillotine. Jonathan tries to roll out, but Enrique holds on. Nunez holds the one-armed guillotine until the round ends.

Jonathan comes out more aggressively this time and throws a head kick. The kick misses, and he decides to throw another. Enrique ducks under it and gets a takedown into side control, Jonathan defending with a headlock. Enrique pops his head out of the hold, and looks to take Jonathan‘s back. Enrique takes the back with one hook in. He sinks the choke but Jonathan defends and escapes before it gets too tight. Enrique rains punches still with back mount, looking to get the choke sunk again. Jonathan makes a desperate attempt to escape the position by standing and falling back to slam Enrique, but Nunez maintains his position and works for the rear naked choke some more. Jonathan is able to roll Nunez and gets into his guard, quickly passing to half mount. Lopes passes to side mount, and Enrique again applies a headlock to prevent the full pass. Jonathan knees to the body and punches at Enrique‘s head, until Enrique rolls away. Lopes follows and takes Enrique’s back The fight ends this way, and was ruled a draw.

However, in a move that made myself and everyone else in Club Lido very happy, there would be no draw, but instead a two-minute overtime to decide a winner. The overtime begins with the fighters circling. Enrique is the first to attack, throwing a right, to which Lopes responds with a shot. He is successful, and gets into side mount. Jonathan traps Enrique‘s arm under his leg and pounds away freely at Nunez‘s open head. Enrique rolls out of the position to his knees, and Lopes quickly takes back mount. He looks for the choke, gets it tight, and Enrique is forced to tap.

Winner: Jonathan Lopes by Submission due to Rear Naked Choke in Overtime.

Andrei Nevsky (Team Elite) vs. Bob Pupa (Dragon Warrior)

Mevski starts the fight strong landing an overhand left. Both fighters flurry, Mevski getting the better of the exchange. Mevski continues to pick Pupa apart with punches, Bob landing one every once in awhile but takes much more than he gives out. After a Mevski flurry, the fighters clinch and Mevski lifts Pupa up into the air and slams him down hard. Mevski stands up immediately and beckons for Pupa to stand back up. Mevski throws an inside leg kick and Pupa follows with a big overhand right. Mevski moves forward with punches while Bob does a good job moving around to avoid him. Mevski lands a good jab hook combo and movies into the clinch. He takes Bob down and lands in side mount. Mevski lets Bob back up again. Pupa moves in and lands a good right then is caught with a jab and then another jab. Pupa goes to throw another right hook and meets a straight in the face. Pupa follows with a jab that connects and a straight that also connects. Mevski delivers a few good body shots then comes back over the top with a right. Both fighters throw a series of punches that all miss. Mevski throws a couple more punches that miss. Pupa’s eye is now noticeably bleeding, and the ref calls for a time out. The ringside doctor rules that Pupa can’t continue.

Winner: Andrew Mevski by TKO due to a Cut in the 1st Round.

Juan Urena (Dog Pound) vs. Erick Yarid (Mountain Storm)

I’ll save you all the trouble of hearing the actual play by play of this fight. Urena attacked a little in the 1st round, landing a couple of jumping punches. Towards the end of the round he stopped being aggressive and Erick just took the center of the ring and landed a punch here and there. The second round was exactly the same. It was draw, so they went to a 3rd round, and it was exactly the same.

Winner: Erick Yarid by Unanimous Decision.

Dana Bluen (Team Santos) vs. Josh Diekman (Strike Zone)

I must say, watching these two massive guys move toward each other was scary as hell. Diekman throws the first punch and Dana looked out of it already. Bluen shoots, but is stuffed and takes a couple body shots for his troubles. Bluen shoots again and gets the takedown for a split second and Diekman gets back up to his feet. Diekman lands another solid punch, and Dana shoots for a takedown, Diekman defends. Dana rips Diekman’s shorts a little, and Josh looks pissed. The fighters square off again, Diekman comes forward with a flurry and the first punch knocked Dana out cold.

Winner: Josh Diekman by KO from a Punch in the 1st Round.

Reid Homer (Submission Arsenal) vs. Mark Mooney (Dragon Warrior)

Reid charges forward for a takedown, and Mooney lands a few punches before the two fighters clinch.. Mooney takes Reid down and gets side mount. Reid immediately begins looking for an armbar. He misses but Reid works and gets to his knees to work for a takedown himself. Mooney reacts well and goes for Reid’s back and looks for the rear naked choke. Reid rolls to break the choke and lands on top in Mooney‘s guard. Reid stands while Mooney stays on his back and throws kicks and punches to the Mark. Mooney quickly gets up and takes Reid down again into Reid’s open guard. Reid is holding onto Mooney to prevent punches. Mooney breaks the hold, then stands and punches. Mooney comes back down into Reid’s guard and looks for an armbar, transitioning to look for a leglock, but Mooney defends. Reid catches a heel hook and Mooney taps.

Winner: Reid Homer by Submission due to a Heel Hook in the 1st Round.

Erick Russel (Ithaca) vs. Chester Belut (Bulldogs)

Eric comes out and immediately throws a low kick. Chester rushes in with punches, then clinches. Erick gets a takedown to guard, then works into side mount. Chester tries to roll him, and Erick takes his back. Erick works for the rear naked choke, temporarily changing to a short choke. They spend a good minute in the position until Chester turns over, into the top of Erick’s guard. Chester passes to half mount, but Erick sweeps to mount. After a few punches, Chester works to his knees looking for a takedown. Erick lands a lot of hard punches while Chester works for the takedown, and I thought they might have to stop the fight. Chester finally got the takedown into Erick’s guard, and starts landing punches from the top as the round ends.

Round two begins the same way round one did, with Erick coming out throwing a leg kick. Chester lands a left jab and then comes in to clinch. Erick breaks away to land a good combo and a knee, and Chester goes back into the clinch. Chester hits an accidental knee to groin and the Ref stops the fight to giver Erick time to recover. After the break, the fight starts and Erick comes out, again throwing a leg kick. Chester flurries to another clinch. Chester shoots for a takedown, and Erick spins and takes his back looking for the choke. Erick’s nose is bleeding heavily, and the ref calls a timeout for the doctor to take a look. They’re able to stop the bleeding, and the fight continues. Chester tags Erick with a right, and move in to clinch. Chester again accidently knees Erick in the groin, and again we have a break. After the restart, Erick comes out again with a leg kick. This time Chester telegraphs it and flurries, but Erick shoots and takes him down, only for Chester to get up. Erick again gets takedown and works for an armbar. It fails, and Erick looks to work a guillotine from the bottom of half mount. A ridiculous amount of blood is pouring from Erick’s nose, and the referee is forced to stop the fight.

Winner: Chester Belut by TKO due to Referee Stoppage from bleeding in the 2nd Round.

Bobby Dias (Boneyard) vs. John Jenner (Brighton Rock)

Bobby comes out quickly with a leg kick and a huge left hook. Bobby throws a head kick and misses Jenner completely. The fighters clinch, and Bobby gets the takedown into side mount. Bobby works into north-south and begins working a choke. Bobby throws a series of painfully hard punches to Jenner’s midsection . Bobby goes back to side mount, still delivering vicious punches to the stomach. Bobby gets full mount and starts raining down punches. He continues to do so until the ref steps in.

Winner: Bobby Dias by TKO due to Punches from Mount in the 1st Round.

Ali Montgomery (Silver Dragon) vs. Justin Hammerstom (Team Tangu)

The fighters meet in the center of the ring. Ali feints a jab, Justin throws a jab of his own that connects then shoots. He gets the takedown and lands in side mount. Justin gains full mount and starts punching. Ali rolls and Justin takes his back but with only one hook and works for a rear naked choke. He gives up and Ali turns again to his back. Ali takes a lot more punches and is trying to work a single leg. As Justin takes his back he gets a better grip around the leg but is still taking shots and has to defend the rear naked choke. Ali gives up on the leg to defend more, and is mounted again. He starts taking more punches. The referee should have stopped this by now, but Justin continues to beat Ali’s skull into the mat. Ali taps and the fight is over.

Winner. Justin Hammerstrom by Submission due to Strikes in the 1st Round.

Jason Girouard (El Maton) vs. Anthony Peters (Team Russell)

The fighters begin by circling. Anthony is the first to engage by throwing a leg kick and Jason responds with a right hand. Peters throws another leg kick, then tries a head kick that fails miserably and he falls. Jason pounces, but Peters gets the takedown to Jason’s guard and quickly passes to side mount. Jason turns and gives Peters his back. Peters stays on top but waits before getting his hooks, and punches Jason while looking for the choke. Jason turns over after taking a lot of punishment while defending, and Peters traps his arm and pounds. Peters begins working for a neck crank while Jason punches from the bottom. Jason turns again and gives his back. Peters sets his hooks, looks for the rear naked choke, but settles for a short choke. Jason taps.

Winner: Anthony Peters by Submission due to a Short Choke in the 1st Round.

Hitalo Machado (American Top Team) vs. Matt Keating (Team Unleashed)

Hitalo charges out quickly, and Keating shoots. Machado sprawls and is able to stuff the takedown, and Keating eventually gives up and gets up to clinch. Hitalo pushes Keating into the corner, and Keating again shoots, this time getting the takedown and lands in half mount. Machado quickly established guard. Keating postures and punches, and Machado is able to trap an arm, looking for and armbar. Keating defends, keeping Machado on his head so that he can’t extend the arm, but Hitalo works and is able to stretch the arm. Keating has to tap out.

Winner: Hitalo Machado by Submission due to and Armbar in the 1st Round.

Jim Clifford (SSSF) vs. Dan Ferrer (Team Santos)

Honestly, there was far too much action in this fight to sit here and try to tell you every last thing that happened in a fight that was the war we all expected it to be. Dan spent much of the fight taking the center of the ring, counter-punching as Jim attempted every kind of attack he could come up with in his crazy little mind. Half of Jim’s attacks began with him bouncing off the ropes and coming at Dan, ranging from Superman punches to front kicks to a jumping guillotine. Dan wasn’t intimidated and didn’t let the unorthodox attacks get him off of his game plan, consistently counter-punching and avoiding taking too much damage. Jim was also the aggressor on the ground, constantly working submissions and actually catching Dan with a triangle-choke that took Dan over a minute and a half to finally escape from with a very purple face. Dan also faired well on the ground, landing a lot of good knees when he was able to side mount Jim, and attacked with an onslaught of leg kicks while standing over a butt-scooting Clifford. This fight went to a decision, and in what was a Moskotitz/Shakir-esque screw job, Ferrer got the nod in a split decision and was given the Lightweight Title. I have tons of respect for Ferrer and he for the most part was able to execute a gameplan of avoiding being submitted or knocked out by Clifford, but I don’t understand how you win a fight when you don’t put your opponent in any dangerous situations. Jim attacked more, landed more punches, attempted more submissions, and brought the fight to an otherwise timid Ferrer. The only round I’d give to Ferrer was the 3rd, and even that was close. But I’m not a judge, so it’s not up to me. I strongly suggest Clifford gets a hold of a tape of the fight and sends it to the USKBA and hopefully gets some kind of justice. Again, Dan is a great fighter and was clearly Jim’s toughest opponent yet and made this a great fight. Dan was also very respectful and humble in victory, announcing to the crowd after the fight that Jim was a very tough opponent and lived up to his reputation.

Winner: Dan Ferrer by Split Decision.
